Joch McLean competed in the Charity Event ‘Fight Like A Pro Night Of Champions’ held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre back on the 20th of October.
The event saw Joch win his fight in the first round with as little as 40 seconds on the clock. This competition was made up of 24 armature boxers that have endured 10 weeks of intensive professional training to prepare them for their boxing debut.
The Charity behind the event is Pride of Bettermen which provides a brotherhood for men, building mental resilience and confidence through mentoring and guidance.
They engage with the community by working with other organisations like The Sanctuary of Women and Children and Pet Refuges. They have even assisted with the construction of 6 family units for vulnerable women and children over the past 2 years. Pride of Bettermen believe this act of giving helps empower men to realise the value and benefits of making a positive contribution to the community.
Congratulations Joch, this is an amazing effort for a great cause and we can’t wait to see what you do next.
T8T Fest was yet again a success!
GVH was able to present Selly with a cheque to go to The Australian Melanoma Research Foundation from the fundraising held the night of the T8T Fest.
The Mason Rack band who was head-lining ran into some troubles on their travels to Bowen earlier that evening and unfortunately were unable to make it on the night, but never the less the line up of entertainment did not disappoint!
Check out this link to see what happened to Mason Rack: https://www.facebook.com/mason.rack/videos/10155534899792181/UzpfSTIxNDg1MDE1OTEwMDI4NDozMTc1NDM4NTU0OTc1ODA/
To everyone involved thank you for an awesome evening.
It’s always great to be apart of something that makes a difference!
We are so very proud to announce that with your help we have been able to raise $5160.75!!!
This money is being donated to the amazing not for profit charity, Drought Angels.
These guys do a phenomenal job making a major difference to every farmer they give a hand to. They are passionate about keeping our Aussie Farmers on their land and do what they can to make that happen.
Hampers, care packs, prepaid visas, local store vouchers, stock feed and hay are all on the agenda for these Angels. Not only do they get these much needed essentials to the Farmers and their families but they also provide the emotional support that is just as important in these times of need.
These Drought Angels are true Aussie Angels in the way they assist rural communities, Aussie Farmers and their families with personalised care.
A huge shout out to the Bowen community and their generosity!
Head over to the Drought Angels website and see for yourself the awesome work these guys do,
and how important they are to our Farmers.
The GVH is very proud to be apart of this community and to support our locals.
And without you, our loyal supporters who show up to the hotel for the Friday night raffles, who lend a helping hand and get the word out there, who support us supporting the community..........
....T H A N K Y O U....
Below is a beautiful message that we received from Bowen Legacy and we wish to share it with the community, because without you we can not do what we do.
“Bowen Legacy is very grateful for your recent generous donation. With such a small number of Legatees and age catching up with most, this incredible donation means so much to our group.
Our 8 Legatees currently support 39 War Widows, including 3 in Collinsville.
The Late Don McLean a Returned man and Legatee himself was one of Bowen Legacy’s strongest supporters. It’s a fitting tribute to Don that his family and the Grand View along with the people of Bowen continue to support Legacy.
Our communities war widows benefit directly from all local donations.”

restoration project that has now been completed.
The 9th hole is saved!
Thanks to the hard work and dedication to all involved over the years, the erosion that was threatening the golf course's 9th hole has had a make over with some state of the art equipment that is not only allowing the golfers to play a beach front game
